Mágh Cuilinn 2-09  Sarsfields 0-16
Chris Hurney has a what-might-have-been moment as his late strike on goal goes over not under the crossbar

CIMC's second home game came to a stormy and controversial end with  a single point defeat to Sarsfields. Slow starts in both halves were the main cause of problems. In the first half, a succession of cheap fouls gave Sarsfields an early advantage and it took a goal by Chris Hurney to haul Moycullen into contention again. As the second half drew to a close the pace of the game was almost at Championship level even if the players touch wasn't and Mágh Cuilinn reached half time 0-09 to 1-04 in arrears.
The opening minutes the second half were dominated by Sarsfields who concentraed on maintaining possession, eliminating the frantic pre halftime pace and taking scores as the opportunities arose. Play was delayed for a long period while Barry Faherty was treated for what looked a serious injury. Thankfully, Barry may be sore for a weeks but no serious injury was actually sustained. The Magh Cuilinn revival having fallen seven points behind did not start until Dan Kelly forced another goal. With two points between the sides Chris Hurney's shot skimmed the top of the crossbar. The game became a battle with Sarsfields trying to hang on and Mágh Cuillin pushing for an equaliser. Some off the ball pulling and dragging went unpunished (by both sides), Matt Donohue received a second yellow card for dissent over a line ball and just when Mágh Cuilinn seemed to have won an opportunity to equalise through Conor Bohan, the decision was reversed and the ball thrown in. Mágh Cuilinn failed to carve a further opportunity.
