U13 Campaign Well Underway

posted 17 Jun 2014, 12:14 by Kenneth Fox
We have been a little remiss in reporting the exploits of the U13 team, especially considering they will be one of the few teams from CIMC operating in the top 16 in the county

The campaign started with a home game against Liam Mellowes only two days after the U13 success. Not distracted by the celebrations around the big win, they came out victors in a ding dong high scoring affair 3-10 to 2-10. Three days later they travelled to Kilconieron and carved out a impressive 3-05 to 2-03 away victory.

Perhaps the delay of a whole week to the next game was the problem as Meelick Eyrecourt team came to Baile Doite and provided a reality check winning 6-05 to 2-04 against an out of sorts Maigh Cuilinn side. As is the case always at this age having everybody available can be a problem as school and family holidays come into the equation along with usual competition from others sports, injury and illness. And so it was a selection shorn of seven players made the trip to Ardrahan and might still have prevailed but for a lack finishing power. In the end Ardrahan won 2-09 to 2-02.

The most recent game against Killimordaly was postponed as that club make the trip north to Antrim for Féile. It was a trip Magh Cuilinn were so so close to qualifying for too. Next game is in Loughrea on Monday at 6.30pm.
